All about EV Wall Chargers

Wall chargers are also known as home charging stations, wall boxes, or home charge points, and are permanently wired units mounted to the wall.

They deliver higher currents through a dedicated circuit, making them especially useful for EVs with bigger batteries or for households with more than one plug-in vehicle.

Portable EV Charger

Should you buy a Portable Charging Cable or a Wall Charger?

While we offer both portable and wall-mounted options, it’s worth noting that 61% of EV drivers rely on portable chargers as their main charging method.

Buying a Portable Charging Cable or a Wall Charger depends on how far you drive each day and how much time you have to charge your car.

Portable charging cables (Mode 2) plug into a standard outlet such as a 240v 3-pin or caravan socket. They are suitable for EV/PHEVs that get a low/med use. ‘Around town’ driving, maybe not everyday.

If you charge your EV every day, consider installing a wall charger at home. High-demand vehicles can increase the wear and tear on your wiring, but a wall charger is built for daily use. A wall charger with a 32 Amp rating will also provide faster charging.

EV Wall Charger

What are the benefits of a Wall Charger?

Wall chargers (Mode 3) step up when you need a faster charge. A 32A wall charger can dramatically reduce charging times, and with 3-phase supply it’s even faster, depending on the onboard charger of your vehicle.

Reduced Charging Time

EV Power Wall Chargers have a higher power rating than standard charger cables, supplying 230V (similar to an electric dryer or oven). This means faster charging, often cutting time by half or more.
