ECO Charge is Now EECA-Approved

Another Smart Charging Option for New Zealanders

We are pleased to confirm that our ECO Charge 7kW Smart EV Wall Charger has been added to the EECA EV Smart Charger Approved List, following the earlier approval of our ECO Link charger.

The approved models are:

  • ECO Charge 7kW Type 2 socketed wall charger, available now
  • ECO Charge 7kW Type 2 tethered wall charger, due to drop soon

The ECO Charge provides another approved smart charging option for New Zealand homes, businesses, electricians, developers and fleet operators. Sold under the EV Power brand, the ECO Charge is designed to provide a practical, reliable, and affordable smart charging solution for the New Zealand market.

Standout Feature: Track charging costs.

For EV owners, businesses, landlords, body corporates and fleet operators, access to charging times, energy usage and cost data is a valuable feature. Charging records can also be exported to a spreadsheet, making it easy to track usage, analyse charging behaviour and report charging costs when required.

The EVchargo App Features include:

  • Remote charging control through the app
  • Charging history
  • Charging time records
  • Energy usage records
  • Cost tracking
  • The ability to enter your electricity price
  • Exportable charging records, including charging times and cost information
  • RFID access control
  • OCPP 1.6J / OCPP 1.6 JSON support
  • Built-in smart charging capability
  • 30mA Type A + 6mA DC residual current protection

The ECO Charge Wall Charger was added to the EV Power range only after working closely with the manufacturer to refine the product for New Zealand conditions and customer expectations. The factory has been responsive, helpful and willing to work with us on the requirements for the New Zealand market.

I visited the factory and was genuinely impressed by the operation. With more than 70 engineers focused on EV charging technology, the depth of expertise was evident. During my visit, I also got to know the director, Tony, and several members of his team over lunches and dinners.

For me, relationships matter. I need to know the people behind the products we sell, see the systems they have in place, and meet the engineering and support teams behind the hardware, app, cloud platform and software development. With smart chargers, the hardware is only part of the story, and you need a serious manufacturer with scale, commitment and vision.

Our ECO Charge Wall Charger is built on a proven platform supplied to at least 17 companies worldwide, including major international brands. More than 15,000 units have also been supplied to BYD Australia. We know that the underlying technology has already been widely used, tested, and demonstrated to work reliably in real-world conditions.

That’s why I’m comfortable putting the EV Power brand on it, and I’m looking forward to seeing the ECO Charge range continue to evolve and expand in the years ahead.

At the end of the day, Kiwis want an EV charger they can rely on. They want smart features that make life easier, local support when they need it, and confidence that the product will still be supported years from now. With EECA approval, a proven platform and the backing of the EV Power team, we believe ECO Charge offers exactly that.
