EV Power was founded in 2016 by Paul O’Connor, a name many Kiwis will recognize. Paul’s previous ventures — including the well-known Paul’s Cars on Moorhouse Ave and later REM Cars — were part of Christchurch’s automotive scene for years.
Back in 2001, Paul imported New Zealand’s very first Toyota Prius, well ahead of the EV curve. Recognizing a growing need for reliable charging solutions, he began exploring prototypes, evaluating global manufacturers, and eventually partnered with one of the world’s leading EVSE makers to develop products tailored to New Zealand conditions and customer expectations.
