A convenient 10m lead could make charging easier and suit cars you own in the future. If you have to buy less you potentially reduce waste.
Some EV/PHEVs have the charging port in the rear which means in some cases you’ll need to reverse up to the Type 2 (home or public un-tethered) charging station. This might not always be easy or practical. A 10m cable will allow you to charge your car parked in any direction.
If you want to upgrade your EV later, say you drive a leased vehicle for work, you’ll know a 10m cable will reach.
Simply select a lead with a Type 1 or Type 2 connection. Not sure what that is? Check out our handy Charging Guide to avoid ordering the wrong cable.
So what are my options?
EV POWER TYPE 2 TO TYPE 2 LEAD, 32 AMP, 1P/3P, 10M CHTEV2T23P10
Will fit all ex-Uk or NZ-new EV/PHEV Type 2 EV/PHEV. These cars are known as Type 2 and have a charging port shaped a bit like a D on it’s side.
It’s up to you whether you use single-phase or a 3-phase supply.
EV POWER TYPE 2 TO TYPE 1 LEAD 10M (BLUE GS) GST2T1B10M
Is suitable for all EVs fitted with Type 1 socket such as Nissan Leaf (ex-Japan), Mitsubishi Outlander, Toyota Prius PHV, BMW i3, (ex-Japan) plus PHEV vehicles with a Type 1 charging port.
You can use this lead for charging at single phase charging points with a Type 2 socket.
The 10m cable is 10kg so grab an EV Power Cable bag for storing it in the boot.
